Spectrum Center Building an Advanced Listening Training Program Around the Tomatis Method

We find that our clients have, from time to time specific needs that they have asked us to address. Our clients flattered us with the assessment that since we understood Sensory Integration and that since we were so successful with the Tomatis Method, why wouldn't we try out some of the new commercially available programs and administer them with our own particular blend of efficiency, knowledge and fuzzy tender loving care. In other words, they wanted our people to do these programs.

It came to our attention that a number of commercially available computer based software programs that targeted the underlying processing foundations of higher learning were getting good results to varying degrees. We attended courses and otherwise obtained training with, among others, Earobics (professional version), FastForWord, Interactive Metronome and Pro Think Motorvator. We began this process in 1998 and rented office space when it became available in our own building with the aim of eventually putting together a new program that was up to our standards.

In making this considerable research and development commitment of time and funds, we operated on the premise that our knowledge and background in the treatment of sensory integration and auditory processing disorders would help us to get the most out of these programs.
